A Vigil for the Children of Douma

“We don’t need, we don’t need eternal humiliation and harassment. From Vienna to Geneva, Syria is bled to exhaustion. Khoja and who is with him, sleeping peacefully, we are sorry for disturbing you.”

These are just some of the things that the children of besieged Douma sang; they sang these words in the face of death and destruction perhaps in order to reach the ears of the politicians at Vienna, to say to them: no solution without the departure of the tyrant, any proposed solution that does not include the departure of the aggressor is causing ever more destruction.

The most important thing in this video is that the war and destruction has not prevented people from expressing themselves peacefully and civilly. This shows that the people have not yet lost their faith, and that despite the siege and destruction, the people still use their words in order to express their hope to live in dignity and freedom.
