Freedom Syria

18 July 2013

The Syria Freedom group was established in France in order to bring together those who had to leave Syria for security reasons, from activists and intellectuals to Syrian students in France. They are united by the purpose of standing with the Syrian uprising and its legitimate demands, and their interest in contributing in democratizing the county, and building a state based on the principles of law, justice, respect for human rights and public freedoms.

The group identified its goals as the following:

  1. To stop the violence and fierce repression inflicted on the Syrian people.
  2. To resist and fight against all forms of religious, sectarian or racial discriminations or social and political affiliations in Syria or among Syrians.
  3. To devote their skills and abilities to achieve necessary democratic reforms.
  4. To provide all possible assistance to the victims of repression and human rights violations, by promoting dialogue between the Syrians, the French and Europeans in general about democratic rights in Syria.
  5. Resist and fight against all forms of religious, social or political discrimination among Syrians.
  6. To cooperate with every organization, holding the same principles and wanting to achieve the same goals in Syria or in the world.

To achieve these goals and raise awareness about the uprising, and the tragedy the Syrians are facing for standing head-to-head with tyranny, the members of the group launched a number of media campaigns, produced and distributed brochures, participated in national and international protests, and organized discussions and public meetings and lectures on the situation in Syria and about the potential future prospects. They have also engaged in building relationships with national and international associations of solidarity and defense of human rights.
