Guard House

Guard House is a short film that tells the story of “al-Mantara”, a magazine that operates in the city of Kafranbel, Idlib. In Arabic, al-mantra is a little house built on an agriculture site to watch over the birth, growth and nourishment of cultivated land. In parallel, the magazine was launched to reflect on the Syrian uprising, criticizing its mistakes and praising its achievements. “A lot of people thought this was a revolution of angels led by flawless heroes,” an activist explains, “but they are humans as well and mistakes do happen.”

The film is produced by Kayani for audio-visual arts and the Street Foundation.
