In the light of the heated clash that had taken place in northern and northern-eastern Syria, between the Democratic Union Party (PYD) militias and fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Syrian Kurds were forced into a hazardous situation that may lead to a Kurdish-Arab civil war.

Alarmed by the frantic situation, a group of activists cooperated with the Kurdish-Arab Fraternity coordination committee to launch the “Khorzi, I Am Your Brother – Arabs and Kurds Are One” campaign, to reassure the Kurds and urge them to return to their homes, having been forced out of them due to the ever growing violence.

The name of the campaign, carrying the Kurdish word Khorzi (which translates to brother), is an innuendo that Kurdish people will not be excluded from the democratic-building process in Syria, and a recognition of the Kurdish culture and language as a vital component of the Syrian identity.

The campaign aims to advocate the Arab-Kurdish brotherhood, and find common ground between the two peoples.

These objectives were translated into actions, through a set of activities:

1- Guarding neighborhoods by group of selected youth committees

2- Launching graffiti campaigns that emphasize the Arab-Kurdish unity.

3- Alleviating pressure and provocative attempts carried out by both sides.

4- Film screenings

5- Organizing gatherings and raising banners that condemns theft in Kurdish areas.

5- Setting up a tent to hold joint Arab-Kurdish events.
