Blogger and human rights activist Razan Ghazzawi received the 2012 Human Rights Defenders at Risk award, from the Dublin-based Frontline Defenders Foundation, for “promoting freedom of expression and human rights in Syria and throughout the Middle East.” Ghazzawi dedicated the award to social media activists: “Syrian citizen journalists and filmmakers tell the revolution in all its colors, through the good times and the bad times. And many have died doing so.”
